About Alpaca Bargain Hunter

Alpaca Bargain Hunter was created in 2008 by WebArtists.biz to fill an ever-increasing need in the quickly transforming alpaca industry.

In 2001, when I started Webartists.biz the Internet bubble had just burst, the economy had been doing poorly for about a year and web development firms where dropping like flies. I had been working for one of the larger web development companies and they were just surviving. So what did I do in that inhospitable business environment? I did what everyone said was crazy and I started a web development company.

One of my first customers was an alpaca rancher and the majority of my customers since then have been alpaca ranchers (or should I say farmer) as well. In 2001 owning a website differentiated an alpaca ranch from its competitors and having a good website – really made a difference! Things have certainly changed since then. Now a website is as standard a piece of marketing in the industry as a business card: it’s not a way to differentiate yourself but you need one if you are going to stay in business.

In 2006 I started to see how alpaca prices where slowly dropping and the industry was headed towards stratifying itself between show animals and fiber animals. I also saw that there was a lack on Internet tools for alpaca ranchers. Since then I have developed many ideas for focused tools to help alpaca ranchers. One of the first ideas was the Alpaca Bargain Hunter.

There are so many ranchers that need help reducing their herd or they need to get out of the business, plus there are many folks that have animals that don’t fit into their breeding goals and just want to find them a good home. Alpaca Bargain Hunter is for them.

This site is also for people wanting to get into the industry. If you are just starting out and need to be careful with your initial investment, this site can be a dream come true. Here are a wide variety of colors, breeds, and quality of alpacas for sale and all at a discount!

There are those that are concerned about this site because it is focused on price and not quality – they are worried that this site will lower prices across the industry. I understand that concern; however, if this site helps people buy and sell alpacas then that is good for the individuals involved as well as the industry as a whole. As Adam Smith, the famous economist, pointed out, as long as goods or services are frequently exchanged, prices will rise and when they are infrequently exchanged, prices will fall.
